About Freedom Cafe'
Freedom Cafe' has been open since May 1999 by Janice
and James Swinton. They moved to Maine in 1996 from
Lawrence, Kansas. James was raised in Arkansas and Janice in
Mississippi. Janice, the chef, grew to love cooking helping her
mother as a child. Her style of cuisine is eclectic with an
emphasis on Southern-Creole.
Freedom Cafe' is a gathering place for friends and family
to come and enjoy a real home cooked meal in a peaceful
environment combined with genuine southern hospitality. Our
food is prepared daily from the freshest possible products. Our
vegetables are delivered fresh. We even peel and cut out sweet
potatoes here on the premises. All the desserts are made at the
cafe', none are store brought or shipped in. From the jambalaya
to the lasagna, we make it all here, homemade for your
enjoyment. No added preservatives are used in our food
preparation. The idea is to give you an exceptional homemade
meal with the best ingredients.
